VIDEO : Andrea Harden -Donahue is a very passionate, long time political and environmental activist.  Here she talks to Ashley King about her latest efforts.  Andrea is co-author of a report  titled 'Green,Decent and Public'. The report is about the creation of a Green Collar Economy and how we need to come together to implement a sustainable future.  Andrea is giving a lecture tonight at 7pm at Dalhousie University.

Chebucto Book Buddies Launch

The Chebucto Book Buddies program will be launching on Saturday, March 13.

 
The program will feature bags of books which can be borrowed by children. Favourite books will be tracked so that they can be re-borrowed. 
 
Join us at the launch for free hot dogs and cake and learn more about the program. There will be face painting and puppet play for the kids and a community information fair for the parents along with readings from local authors and other community members.

Voices of the Sea Spring Season

VOICES of the SEA , the Prospect Communities' singing ambassadors are looking forward to an interesting Spring and Summer season.

Plans are underway for a number of local performances including the Seniors' Club; some seniors' residences throughout the Spring; in June, the Prospect Community Centre's Grand Opening; and in July the Blessing of the Boats Service in Terence Bay. New members (from 9 to 90!) are welcome.

Mumford Terminal Bus Stop Locations are Changing Effective Sunday, February 28, 2010, Metro Transit will be moving its bus stop locations on the Mumford Terminal platform.

There will be two bus stop locations, the first being at the far side of the terminal platform (most distant from transit building), and the second being midway down the terminal platform.  Buses will proceed to the front of their new designated stop, with later buses pulling in behind buses already at the terminal. I am really surprised at the lack of attention this incident received.

Especially considered the amount of attention some other non-controversies received at the Olympics. But it appears to have been buried under Canadian victory jubilation.

This video was shot after Russia lost 7-3 to Canada in the Quarterfinals (and I'm sure Canadians remember that Ovechkin played not-so-good).

While the debate about the causes for global warming rages on, renown Halifax-based photographer Yassine Ouhilal has proof positive that warming is indeed taking place in the Arctic.

On Friday, March 12, Ouhilal will be opening an exhibit of his Thawscapes collection at Halifax’s Argyle Fine Art , 1869 Upper Water St. On display will be a series of exquisite limited edition, pure pigment on watercolour prints along with select, unique edition pieces.
