Halifax Metro Transit Holiday and New Year's Eve Schedule



Halifax Metro Transit will be running on its holiday schedule Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and New Year's Day. Addition service will be available Christmas Eve Day, and New Year's Eve. Also, to ensure the citizens of HRM enjoy a safe way to celebrate the arrival of the New Year, on New Year's Eve after 8:30 pm all buses (including Access A Bus and Community Transit), and the Dartmouth Alderney Ferry will be free.

Thursday December 24 - Christmas Eve
  • Buses - Normal weekday schedule.
  • Alderney Ferry - Normal weekday schedule.
  • Woodside Ferry - Normal weekday service, with additional ferry service beginning at 11:22 am from Woodside, every 30 minutes. The last ferry leaving the Halifax Ferry Terminal to Woodside is at 6:07 pm.

Friday December 25 - Christmas Day
  • Buses - Holiday schedule. No service on Community Transit, MetroLink or MetroX.
  • Ferries - No service.

Saturday, December 26 - Boxing Day
  • Buses - Holiday schedule.
  • Alderney Ferry - Holiday service.
  • Woodside Ferry - No service.

Sunday, December 27
  • Buses - Normal Sunday schedule.
  • Alderney Ferry - Holiday service.
  • Woodside Ferry - No service.

Monday, December 28
  • Buses - Normal weekday schedule, including Community Transit, MetroLink & MetroX.
  • Ferries - Normal weekday service.

Tuesday, December 29
  • Buses - Normal weekday schedule, including Community Transit, MetroLink & MetroX.
  • Ferries - Normal weekday service.

Wednesday, December 30
  • Buses - Normal weekday schedule, including Community Transit, MetroLink & MetroX.
  • Ferries - Normal weekday service.

Thursday, December 31 - New Year's Eve
  • Buses - Free regular bus, Access A Bus, and Community Transit service after 8:30 pm. Extended schedules on some conventional routes, as late as 2 or 3 am. See Metro Transit's special service flyer at http://www.halifax.ca/metrotransit/news/documents/NYEServiceFlyer2009.pdf for detailed times.
  • Alderney Ferry - Extended service, with free service after 8:30 pm. The last ferry will leave Halifax at 1:45 am.
  • Woodside Ferry - Normal weekday service.

Friday, January 1 - New Year's Day
  • Buses - Holiday schedule. No service on MetroLink or MetroX.
  • Ferries - No service.

Mumford Terminal Bus Stop Locations are Changing

Mumford Terminal Bus Stop Locations are Changing Effective Sunday, February 28, 2010, Metro Transit will be moving its bus stop locations on the Mumford Terminal platform.

There will be two bus stop locations, the first being at the far side of the terminal platform (most distant from transit building), and the second being midway down the terminal platform.  Buses will proceed to the front of their new designated stop, with later buses pulling in behind buses already at the terminal. This will reduce traffic congestion, and passengers will no longer need to leave the transit platform to board their bus.

The first half of the Mumford Terminal platform will service the following routes:

  • 1 Spring Garden
  • 2 Downtown
  • 3 Manors
