Happy Halloween!
Well, Happy Halloween, y’all! Halloween is one of my favorite holidays, because I often dress up in a pop culture themed costume. Pop starlets seem to be my specialty, since I’ve previously been Britney Spears, Gwen Stefani, Miley Cyrus and Katy Perry. (One year I went edgier and did Courtney Love.)
This year I hosted a Halloween bash at my place, and dressed as pop diva and The Voice celebrity coach Christina Aguilera.
Can we talk about how much eye makeup I had to wear to do that? Because it was ALL the eye makeup.
Every year I make the mistake of choosing a costume that requires a wig, and every year I whine that I’m too hot and “why did you let me pick a costume that needed a wig?” By midnight, I was hot and itchy and wishing I’d gone with my original idea of dressing as Carly Rae Jepsen. Me + Telephone = Carly Rae Jepsen.
Some of the other party-goers had pop culture themes too. Graham won the prize for best costume (it was voted on – I’m very democratic) for his awesome Dr. Horrible get-up.
Vanessa came dresses as meth cook #3 from Breaking Bad. Look for her to star in the last half of the final season. She claims she’s Walt’s new protege.
She was a handful, pushing that blue meth on everyone all night long.
Guest blogger Allison also went the reality TV route, dressing as Teresa from Real Housewives: New Jersey.
Xtina wasn’t the only pop icon at the party. My sister-in-law to be Laura brought MJ back from the dead with her killer Zombie Michael Jackson getup.
And finally, here is another photo of Dexter, my cat, for you to enjoy. He is named after the serial killer and is dressed as the latest student accepted to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
When he’s cute I’m like, “You’re a total Hufflepuff”, but then when he throws up on the floor I’m like, “Ugh, what a Slytherin thing to do.”
There were plenty of great costumes at the party, but I thought I’d just share the ones relevant to the blog. What are you guys doing to celebrate Halloween?
